Amy J. Schrum was born and raised in Fairbanks, Alaska. Amy grew up playing hockey and other sports, and after graduating from Monroe Catholic High School, played Division I hockey at the University of Maine and Boston College. Amy graduated from Boston College with a B.A. in Political Science and earned her Juris Doctor (Cum Laude) from Thomas M. Cooley Law School, with a concentration in Litigation.
During Law School, Amy worked as an intern for the Fairbanks District Attorney's Office and the former Law Office of Downes, MacDonald & Levengood. Upon graduation from law school, Amy was employed as a law clerk for the Honorable David C. Stewart of the Alaska Court of Appeals where she worked on a variety of criminal law issues. After her clerkship, Amy was employed as Associate at Zimmerman & Wallace where she gained extensive experience in different areas of civil law. Amy was a founding partner of Downes & Tallerico Law Firm, LLC, which later became Downes, Tallerico, & Schwalm Law Firm, LLC.
Amy is a member of the Alaska Bar Association and is admitted to practice in Alaska State Court and Federal District Court.
In her free time, Amy enjoys spending time with her family, coaching youth hockey, and being at her family cabins.

Amy J. Schrum was born and raised in Fairbanks, Alaska, and has dedicated her career to serving the legal needs of Alaskans. Today, Amy focuses her personal practice on estate planning, business law, and personal injury, drawing on more than a decade of diverse legal experience. Earlier in her career, Amy practiced extensively in the areas of family law, civil litigation, and criminal defense — experience that continues to inform her work and her mentorship of attorneys at Golden Heart Law.
A lifelong Fairbanksan, Amy grew up playing hockey, softball, and other sports. After graduating from Monroe Catholic High School, she played Division I hockey at the University of Maine and Boston College, ultimately earning her B.A. in Political Science from Boston College. She went on to receive her Juris Doctor (Cum Laude) from Thomas M. Cooley Law School, concentrating in Litigation.
During law school, Amy interned at the Fairbanks District Attorney’s Office and at the former Law Office of Downes, MacDonald & Levengood. After graduation, she served as a law clerk for the Honorable David C. Stewart of the Alaska Court of Appeals, where she worked extensively on complex criminal law issues. Amy then practiced as an Associate at Zimmerman & Wallace, gaining broad experience in civil litigation. She later co-founded Downes & Tallerico Law Firm, LLC, which grew into Downes, Tallerico & Schwalm Law Firm, LLC. That firm eventually became Golden Heart Law, LLC, which Amy now proudly owns and operates.
Amy has successfully recovered millions of dollars in settlements and verdicts for clients who have suffered serious injuries or lost loved ones in wrongful death cases, holding responsible parties accountable and securing meaningful results for her clients.
She is admitted to practice in both Alaska State Court and Federal District Court and is a member of the Alaska Bar Association.
